Domain redirects ok? Your thoughts please.

    I'll cut to the chase.

I own xyz.com which is hosted. This is advertised on Adwords.

I purchase keyword.com and have it as a redirect inside frames - in other words if you type in keyword.com you'll see the website hosted for xyz.com but the address bar will remain the same.

What's your thoughts on Google allowing this?

Basically, it just means I don't have to shell out for the hosting and making an exact copy of xyz.com

As you can probably tell, the reason for this is to test the CTR of the display URL.

Cheers for your thoughts in advance, guys.

    Hi
I'm a noob on here so bear with me...
What you're asking is can Google check what links to the site that you have advertised through Adwords? As long as you're paying to link from Google to xyz.com, I don't think they can have any say in whatever else diverts to it. You aren't interfering with their system in any way. If on the other hand, you're trying to set it so that you have 2 adwords listings to the same site but one goes through an iframe redirect, they might get a bit itchy. Best way is to give it a shot. They'll pick it up straight away if they're gonna spot it, they're bloody quick on stuff like that...

What I'm asking is if I'm split testing Ad A vs Ad B and Ad A has the display of mydomain.com and Ad B has newdomain.com ... with newdomain.com simply showing mydomain.com inside frames.

I've read up a bit since posting the original topic and it seems I'll need to change the DNS entry, before contacting my hosting company.

The only reason for this will be to split test 2 different display URLs.

Are you registering your domains through different companies? That's the only reason that I can see for you having to change your DNS...
You should be able to redirect from wherever to wherever irrespective of your DNS, I have a blogger page that redirects to a CB affiliate programme (PSP Blender) with no difficulties.

    Domains with same company.

"From April 1st, 2008 Google will no longer allow you to post a display URL in your Google ad that is not your own website’s real domain name. This means you can’t use automatic redirects.

You can still use multiple domains but with no redirects"

This, however is not what I'm actually doing. The display URL will be the actual URL, it will just have the content of my other website inside the frames.

The URL: newdomain.com will be static in the address bar.

So all Google will see is a page with your URL, the only code will be an iframe. You aren't redirecting as such, you're pulling something in from another website. As far as I can see, that shouldn't be a problem. I have a domain that pulls a frame in from Amazon for the Wii, no worries at all from Adwords.

    Basically yeah.

If any links on the website are clicked on, the URL in the address bar will still remain the same.

Yeah, what mine does is take the whole page from Amazon and displays it in an iframe below my website title and page title. If you click on any links in the iframe, the only things that change are the contents of the iframe, not the url or page title etc. No problem with Adwords, I actually got the idea from a guy who made a stack of cash using this method a couple of years ago.
