Domain redirection question

    Hi

If I redirect a domain that is parked with one host using their http redirection to a holding page hosted on my own site, will this adversely effect my rankings?

    For example (actual domains used)

If I use the http redirect function available to me on http://www.edinburghflorist.eu to redirect to http://www.gloriosaflorist.co.uk/holdpage.asp will this cause any ill effect for the www.gloriosaflorist.co.uk domain rankings?

    Hope this makes sense

Redirection is just not really great for SEO it does work if its a 301, but I still don't recommend it. Its best to use the same domain.

    Thanks

I use a 301 to correct canonical issues for the domain.

The thing is, I have a number of other domains registered and parked which are florist related and I'm just wondering if there is a way to point them to the active site without harming it.

Perhaps there is no value in doing this? I don't know, thats why I'm here!

You can redirect them at the registrar level... usually multiple domains is more of a branding issue...

Why do you own the multiple domains in the first place?

I registered a number of domains along the floristry theme before the name of the company in question (and hence the actual domain to use) was finalised.

If thats true then I'm ok with that.

I absolutely don't want to harm the site which will be pointed to, but I just reckoned that if these other domains are just sitting around pointing at some SEDO page or something then they might as well be pointing to a proper site.

I would simply redirect them at the registrar level and be done with it.
