Domain Redirect- Masked or Unmasked

I had a domain redirect for an affiliate product about a year ago.

I would check the link to see if credit was given and sometimes it would show the affiliate as "none" and then other times it would show my ID.

I have heard different things but would like to put this to rest so I can move on with this thing and be productive.

I have heard that you should mask and then some would say you should leave it unmasked.

There is also at godaddy a setting for "302 moved temp" or "302 moved Perm"--

So I was wondering what the setting would be for that as well.

I just want to set this up so credit is given at all times if possible.

    Thanks - James

Redirecting to an affiliate link sometimes has nothing to do with tracking, but depends on accuracy of the tracking system itself, although I may say masking an URL can sometimes result in affiliate banning if not expressly allowed.
