Domain recession?

I've recently been trying to sell a couple of domains through sedo.com. I get very few offers and those I get is about 10 times lower than I was offered about 2-3 years ago.

Is the domain name business in a deep recession or what is going on?

But it's a huge difference in price. It seems too big. I guess I should try to buy instead. :)

I guess this is not a good time to sell domains as everyone is getting discounted offer on various registrar's. Also there are bunch of other extensions as well so I do not think its a right time to sell domains.

OK, I was a bit surprised since I thought prices would be rather stable for domains now. It seems like a rather safe investment in this financial crisis. Better than money on the bank....

Prices have been falling for the last year quite rapidly with the recession.

It is a good time to buy domains. I've recently picked up some very nice domains at an average price of $10. A few years ago many of these would have gone for hundreds.

a lot of people dropping domains now, selling them out for cheap prices, the demand for domains has dropped then what it was 2-4 years ago. i also was able to pick up great ones. we were at the peak already, it will take time before domain demand will be huge again, many 4 letter domains are being dropped, from total 250k domains each day 100 are dropped.

Something is going on. A year ago I could sell domains for whatever price I wanted. But now it just sucks.

Give the economy some time, hang on to them-buy others and sell when it is stable again.

It also depends on luck.Maybe they just don't like the domain listed by you. They think it's not popular at all and
    a little expensive.

I don't think that is the case. I listed less last time...and minimum offer price is as low as it can be. Still very few offers. I even made many of them featured.

I've been reducing my portfolio this year and letting names expire - especially the "great-name-that-I-will-develop-one-day-if-I-ever-get-the-time" domains.
