Domain Purchase Scam

    Hey Guys,

    Can anyone shed any light.....

I was contacted by an individual on email stating they were interested in a domain I have registered. They inquired about my asking price and I replied etc.

Then I got a reply stating they would pay 5 times more than my asking price, but in order to proceed I need to get an appraisal from a company that charges €50 per appraisal and that based on the appraisal we could agree a fee.

As I am fairly new to this game, I wondered if this is a well know scam and if so has it been around for a while?

    Thoughts appreciated....

Sounds like a classic scam. I suppose they asked you to pay for the appraisal.
There was such a scam in our country regarding old sewing machines that were supposedly very expensive, but just some particular serials (and of course yours is one of them), then they would ask you to pay for an appraisal in "Austria" or whatever country... of course after you pay you never hear from them

this is a domain appraisal scam mail. just delete that mail.

best is to tell them get an appraisal from them self by giving that domain name.
