Domain Phishing

i recently received an email stating that there was a request for the domain extensions i don't own. My domain is skilledgraphics.com, this person stated he had a request for the same domain but .org, .info, .net etc...

He was basically stating that he was being fair, and decided to ask me if i wanted to purchase them first. Before he registered the requested domains.

He pointed out, that just because i have the ".com" domain, doesn't mean someone else cant use the others.

We basically argued back and forth because i kept turning him down and told him i didn't care. As long as they don't claim to be my company. And i told him if it ever came down to that i would then seek legal action.

He continued to argue, that i should act now, and save myself from the legal woes. He continued to try and bait me. I eventually just told him to go ahead and register the domains to the person requesting it. And i stopped responding to him.

It was an obvious attempt to get me to purchase domains by lying to me and telling me there were requests for my business name. If you check now, skilledgraphics.com is STILL the only registered domain

Be careful of these sneaky attempts. Those initiating them are persistent with there actions.

Honestly you should've just ignored it. That's one of those long-time scams,
and it's actually been posted a few times here before.

At any rate, those guys will keep trying until either: a) they've made enough
financially from it, or b) they've decided it's too much hassle. Such folks will
always be around, but we luckily don't have to fall for their schemes.

Well at first i took it as a legit concern, but when he wouldn't take no for an answer, i did just that and ignored him.

I have been getting those too! I deleted them all, but they were signing them with a company name in another country.
