I know this has been brought up before, but I could not fiond the thread, and if it saves someone a headache, it won't hurt to have another. this happened to me today, and luckily I am not too stupid to fall for it. So, I own a domain, and I get an email that says something like this. To which I replied: This was his answer back: People, this is a tactic to get you to purchase their useless appraisals. Here is what I told him. It has now been hours, and no reply. Just don't get caught in this type of scam. If anyone is interested in his email address, just PM me. I would be happy to hand it out.
Don't understand appraisals anyways when it comes to domains. CheapGas.com has been bought for $150k this year. What would you have evaluated the value as? http://domainnamewire.com/2005/06/22/a-spanish-week-for-domain-name-sales/
gees... this scam has been around for so long. apparently there are still people who fall for that kinda scam. don't waste your time replying to those scums.
Translation: * I sell bread - sounds cool * I don't have a price in mind yet, but please make an offer - Ah ok. I got this other company that can give us a useless estimate, split the costs? * Yeah cool, always wondered what my $1 bread was worth! - Okay. they have 'guessed' your bread is worth $5. I think it is too high for me, I must pass. Their services costed me $500. your bill for $250 has been sent to you. * Okay, nice doing business with you! - no problem! Anyone that want to send me money is free to do so, just don't ask me to send money first!
