Hello, i already own a website lovelymag.com and its name servers are ns1.lovelymag.com and ns2.lovelymag.com. Now i want to get badbetty.com but dont want anyone to trace my website through whois to get to lovelymag.com. I want to use the same server.. so is there any suggestion for me to accomplish this task? Difficult?
You will need to have an ip to assign your own dns setting. How many ips do you have? request your host for more (they will charge for more offcourse) Once they give it to you, its pretty easy. Under adding a package add the domain Ihatebetty.com or whatyouwant.com to the package. Click on "nameserver" if its under direct admin. Select your other ip (the one you are not using for ilovebetty) and click to select your option to create a new nameserver name with the new ip. And click save when you are done. *1. You need another ip in order to assign a unqiue name server ns1.ihatebett.com or so *2. You need to carefully select the new nameserver so it wont be under ilovebetty, there's a scroll down. *3. Click save. If you do not have another IP you need one. Ask your host. YOu will need VPS or Dedicated to do so. Shared hosting cannot.
I suppose you need small VPS for this. If you do not use custom nameservers - small shared account will be more then enough.
THe op said, he/she wanted the custom domain name server for ihatebetty therefore you do need at least a vps. Just ask your host for an extra ip, log into your cpanel and do it or ask your host how to. Very easy, but you will need another ip. Shared hosting are unable to have their own dns, they use only 1 dns for shared. Which is the point the op was talking, didn't want to be linked to other sites, therefore you need another ip. Request an extra ip. At a cost ofcourse.
