Hey, First of all i would like to introduce my self to the boards, I'm Hunter (chillinhh), i believe this is my first post, i have been browsing the forums over the past month or more and find it very useful. Anyways to the point... It's time i start up a new site, things have slowed down with my current projects, so in the meantime i'm going to start working on some new projects, and with search engine trouble in the past i want to make sure i pick the perfect domain / name for my site. My question is, what typically works better, a site with a creative name, or one to the point? Example: Creative: GodsOfGaming.com (Of course it would be much more catchy / creative this is just something off the top of my head) To the Point: Gaming-Reviews.com My Main Goal is SEO / Top Search Engine Results, the one problem i've always had. Say if someone searchs "Gaming Reviews", both sites are PR 3, how much priority would Gaming-Reviews have over GodsOfgaming ? Correct me if i'm wrong, but don't domain names take higher priority than just the site page title? These are not domains i'm using and no its going to be a gaming site these are just examples. Note:The site will be an Adult Entertainment / Porn Site. Summary: How much play does the domain have in search engine rankings?
In my unenlightened position, I'd go for a short creative name, aiming more for peoples memory than google. If people can remember the domain they will be more likely to link to it, the main source of the pr.
I don't know exactly but the order I'd put things in of importance would be links contents title/domain. The title and domain along with the content are used to figure out what keywords you will be strong for. It's the links that determine mostly what the pagerank is. If you build good content and have an easy to remember domain, you will get links resulting in a higher pagerank.
