I was wondering, if having sepecific words in the domain name affect the ranking in search engines, so if i was developing a website to do with jewelry, should i include the word jewelry in the domain name?
    Thanks,
    Tintu

It's helpful, but you can't rely solely on that to get a good ranking in the search engines.

Having the keyword you are optimizing for in the domain absolutely helps on SEO. Of course there are other factors that are taken into account, but having the keyword in the domain or not having it can be a pretty big difference in terms of how long your page takes to get page 1 on Google.

However, keep it mind that that if your site is about jewelry but the keyword you are optimizing for is for example "discount jewelry" what you want in your domain is "discount jewelry" not "jewelry".

Yes, what wechito said. Also, if you don't feel like you've found a domain name with the keyword you want, you can still get to number one on Google, but (as always) you need to research your keywords first to make sure that you aren't aiming for a keyword that is heavily saturated.

I think it is not the only thing by any means, but it definitely does not hurt and probably helps a good chunk of the results.

yes you can take that word "jewelry" but make sure ans search all your tarted keywords before u make your domain name..
you can put your site on no.1 without having such words in domain name with meta keywords, tags ... there are other methods to get site on good ranks...

It will certainly help. Particularly if the key word is not highly competitive. I had a number of sites rank top 3 on local Google without any off page SEO at all.

Yep, its another one of the factors which counts towards your ranking. As mentioned above spend time on keyword research first then get your url
