ok I found a decent domain 1 day ago, was going to register it but thought about it. Just logged in to find someone else has registered it under private.. So what the hell can I do?

Just was still thinking about it.. it's a bit of an unusual domain name..

 

it was once happened to me before. i want to buy a domain name and on the next day when i want to buy it, someone else had bought the domain. and then i need to think another name to buy. duh... it was really frustrating.

but i am very happy because the domain that i am using now is far better and very attractive. hope you will get other domain name that is better than the one that you want to buy.

Well that was the correct answer.

 

I had this problem to and was finally told my by our SEO guru that there are people out there who can trace those domain names searches. If the domain name is NOT purchased while you are searching, these guys will purchase it and then try and sell it to you at a jacked up price. This happens all the time, especially on Go Daddy. I stay away from Go Daddy while searching, but when I order, I use them.

 

Offer to buy it or move on.

That happened to me once on godaddy.
I waited a few days and they became available again.

 

Or the more painful version of "you snooze, you lose."

Offer to buy it, give it 120 hours from registration and see if it'll be dropped,
don't look it up on your browser. If it's still retained 120 hours after, move on.

More importantly, don't let your emotions cloud your judgment.
