Do you think a domain name should contein "-" for example free-games, or is better without "-" eg. freegames?

On average, without the "-" would be much better.
If you can get it without the "-", your domain will be seen as an exact match, giving it more SEO power. However, "-" is seen as a word separator, example: flower (-) pots, when someone in the search engine types in the phrase "flower pots", so it certainly isn't a deal breaker.

Also, if word of mouth will be a large factor, try not to get any -'s because it will be harder to remember.

I am always trying to get domains without "-" evn if they are not that related to my mine keyword.

For instance if I am targeting keyword "free games" and can't get domain freegames.com I am looking for alternatives like freegamesarena.com freegameszone.com and son on.

I really don't like those "-" and I think visitors can feel the same way

According to the latest wisdom (which changes by the minute I think), there is no difference. I ran across an eBook site the other day with hyphens. It was ranked #2 for "ebook reader". Of course the site had tons of content which no doubt helped.

Personally, I avoid hyphens, if for no other reason than the human factor. It's pretty cumbersome to communicate the darn thing over the phone. Simple is better in my opinion.

hyphen - is just a separator. Domain without hyphen is more human friendly.
Why not just conduct a poll here...

If it comes down to getting your domain name with a "-" with the dot com extension verses having the domain name with no "-" with another extension like .info or .biz I tend to go with the .com with the "-" in it.

This use to be true, but not so much anymore. I've got some of both for my url's. If you're going to be printing your url anywhere or telling people it over the phone, do not get the hyphen--people tend to forget about it or not write it down in the first place. Then, they'll get somebody else's website - not good!

Apart from the above, if you having a domain name without "-" it helps to increase your direct traffic.

Sometimes there are phrases that look better with the hyphen, can't think of one at the moment, but when I do, I'll put it here.

If you get a domain name without (-)hyphen then it is best for you. Google provides first priority to keyword rich domain without hyphen. But in case you don't get a domain without hyphen, then it is a wise decision to with hyphen domain when it contains your targeted keyword.

Its better if the url without "-" is available. URL should be short, must contain keyword and should be unique to differentiate your website from your competitors.

I suggest domain name without hyphen because google gives preference to domain name without hyphen(more seo friendly) also it's easy to remember.

Getting domain name without - better. But we should create domains to help users to identify our site. If we feel domain name without separation does not give idea about our business, using - is better.
