They will not accept this. ... For the obvious reason.

What is your url name, and why would you want their name as part of your url, anyway?

    Just curious.

I am not an expert, but I believe there are several sites with the name PayPal as part of domain, most noticeably, a site called something like PayPalsucks or something. I am sure there are others. Other day I ran into a forum called WindowsSeven so I guess if you are smart enough to use it and make sure your site's logo steers reasonably clear of any infringements, you should be good. Just an opinion.

I'd seen a similar post in another forum. As far as `paypalsucks' is concerned, they cannot use capital P's like `PayPalsucks,' as this would be an infringement. I am not sure if PayPal has copyrighted the word itself. There is a serviceable database of words that are copyrighted. I have to check out there to find out.

Uhhhh, there are no caps in urls, and, um, they CAN use caps (PayPal) in their site. lol and a deep "sigh."

Jesus, son, don't you think before posting?

    Seriously...don't you?

    Just curious.

@Perry :) If you could kindly think some yourself before posting, you would have realized that he was talking about the logo. Just see the line of my post which he has quoted .. and where in his post does he say that he is referring to the URL ???

Btw, he is approximately your age, give or take a few.. so it'd be better if you don't call him 'son'. However, if you wish to see the photographs of his really cute looking granddaughter, who was born few months ago, you can surely PM him :D . Would help to spread some cheer .....

"and," which also refers to, in addition.

He just needs to think before posting, or, if he doesn't know what he is talking about, which is most of the time, he shouldn't be posting. It makes it worse for posters asking for help.

Yeah, I'd like to see some pics. That would be, um, swell.

And I'll show more pics of me and my bald head. :)~

luigi777, did you get a reply back?

Well, I made my point and I will now leave it up to Parsibagan to defend his comments (or choose to not get drawn into this useless controversy over mindless stuff).

Why don't you post your bald headed pics over here on the forum (maybe create a new thread about it LOL - any which way, nowadays threads get created on flimsier premise)? That way we can all discuss the merits and demerits of excessive beer drinking and the effect that can have on one's hairline? ;)

O enlightened one, have you never heard about `Pascal casing?' If not go ahead and read about them and how they can be used for CAPITAL characters in url. You can also try hovering the mouse pointer over the url. Also, it is easier to read different words in the url and separate them when they are in CAPS and lower case, like:

    http://www.educationforfoolslikeparry.edu

    http://www.EducationForFoolsLikeParry.edu

And before you shoot back with the vitriolic mouth of yours, copy and paste (with keyboard use ctrl+c and then ctrl+v) the url given below and after the page has loaded, check the url in the browser's address bar. Anyway, I'll give you the benefit of doubt. You are ignorant about most things except `links.'

He is junior to me by 11 years.

Sigh, I just realized that his website's url contains a healthy dose of CAPS... let me count...

    1) P
    2) R
    3) F
    4) M

@Perry, no use removing the website or any references to the same. I have all of them stored offline in my internal HD, flashdrive, external HD, and have also stored them in various online storage sites too. And yeah, the page source too. :)

Go son, play marbles, if you have the little balls though!

Just to educate you a bit further... The domain name is not case sensitive. But the rest of the url - the file path - definitely is.

I think it depends on how similar the url is to paypal.com. If it's within a lod of other letters, then you're probably ok. Can you post the url?

Yes, I think it completely depends on what is the meaning of the website name and what is the purpose.

No I can't post the url yet. But I'll give an example, lets say I'm selling schoes and I accept paypal. My domain would be paypalschoes .com
So that is how my domain is. Will it be a problem?

As before...no, no, no. A thousand times, no.

But, luigi777, the only way you are going to know for sure is to try it.

    So....

hmm trying it I don't know. Put all effort and money into the domain promoting it is a huge risk.
I guess I better contact paypal once again and hopefully they answer this time.

You likely had good reason for doing it this way, but personally I would not have. What if at some point you decide to get your own merchant account instead of relying on Paypal? As Paypal has it's own marketplace of retailers, it would make more sense for me as a shopper to go to the source instead of someone 'pretending' to be Paypal.

It's about the perception from the buyers point of view and as someone who shops online regularly (more than I should probably), buying from a site that mimics a real site makes me think scam.
