Will eBay sue me for using a domain which contains "ebay" in it...

I am planning on developing a service related to eBay and I see a domain of [keyword]eBay.com is available. Will I get in trouble if I use it?

best way to find out - email ebay....

no one can tell you if you will get in trouble or not. A company might or might not issue C&D letter, it all depend on company policy. If your domain name contain a TM term, the TM holder has the "right" to sue you

myspace care their TM a lot and they bust everyone for that. i once receive a C&D from circuit city and i have to drop the name

My site with ebay in the domain name has not hit the ebay radar.
All I sell there is information about how to make money with ebay.
Maybe ebay considers my site a good site not to be messed with since I do drive traffic, new users, etc to ebay.com

Contacting eBay is best. If your site is there to make them money, they might allow it. If not, they most likely won't.

How you use their name (sub-domain, domain, etc) is not relevant. The name is under trademark no matter what. BTW, they are very controlling.

If you have a site where your products/services are meant for eBay, is there anything to watch out for?

I registered ebaysaleshelp.com about a year or two ago figuring I would have a site assisting eBay buyers with info, tips etc. I had also intended on putting a disclaimer that states that we are in no way afilliated with eBay.

Long story short, I got a cease and desist almost immediately from eBay. I explained what I intended to do with the site, the disclaimer etc. (figuring it would help them getting new buyers / sellers) and they're next email was even worse than the first. If you have more money than eBay and are willing to go to court and lose, then go for it...otherwise I would C & D now.

Yeap, avoid at all costs using registered trademarks of US companies. I just received a cease and desist notice from Fair Issaac because my domain has the word FICO in it. I guess i wont go against them and ill transfer the domain name to them....2 bad now... i lost my link building money...:( ...
By the way .. it is not the one i have in my signature!!!:)
