Another consideration of importance is the domain name extension. Although there are many new domain extensions available, dotcom is still the best choice. When typing in a web address, Internet users automatically want to type in a .com extension, as this is the extension that has been embedded into our brains from the start.

Take your time and select a quality domain name that will grow with your business. It will be well-worth your time
and effort in the long run.

the irony in your post kills me mate :)

think of a business name or a main product with a brandable name and then work with that and thinking of a domain name around it

A thesaurus may help. Think of what image you wish to project and chose a word and look up words with similar meanings.

The problem is that others have already bagged the best names.

Also try Google to see what comes up when you search.

    Who is the brand leader?

You might be sneaky and find a name and put hyphens in it, but most people assume that there are no hyphens.

A name five characters long is supposed to be the best and remember most people can't spell!

pratik.com (Plastindustria 2000) and pratik.biz (Ahmet KemalSAN) are already taken.

If your name is well known off line then find a variation - cyberpratik.com is available?

People's memory is bad. I wouldn't remember Pratik and I've already forgotten the other name!

Just looked it up - graphicsdesigner - I'd remember that as graphicdesigner!

    graphicsdesigner.com = abke.com

graphicdesigner.com = Bill Davison Freelance Graphic Designer

    graphicsdesigner.biz is still available.

    graphicdesigner.biz is a non-English site.

Going back to the original question, what type of business are you looking for on-line? Again, what search string would your potential customers use to find the design service which they require?

You need to get to page 1 on that Google search.
