Domain name strength

    how much relevance does google or yahoo give to the domain name as far as search rankings go?

    I think it depends more upon where your backlinks come from rather then the domain extension (although .co.uk tend to rank better on google.co.uk then .com and the same goes for google.com the other way round), if alot of your backlinks come from .co.uk domains, you will rank better in google.co.uk then google.com.
    least that is my understanding.
