I know that the domain name plays a somewhat major role in the serp of a site. For example my main keyword is (totally random) "Banana Cream Pie". If my site was bananacreampie.com i would get a lot of keyword juice from that ( from what i know ). Does it make a difference if there are hyphens in the name? Brings me to my questions. Lets say my first choice for a domain was bananacreampie.com but thats taken in .net and .org as well ( but they are not sites, just parked by some dumb-o ) would it be a good idea to reg. BananaCream-Pie.com or Banana-CreamPie.com... and develope it into a site with the main keyword being banana cream pie. I want to know if i will still get some significant Keyword Juice from that. Thanks
One of the tough questions that companies face when they launch a web site is what domain name to choose, especially if they are planning to optimize their site for search. There is a never-ending debate about whether to use the name of the company in the domain name and focus on branding, or to use keywords in the domain name for quicker rankings. It really depends on the purpose of your site, and what your priorities are. You need to determine where corporate branding lies in the equation, vs. SEO. Having a keyword in the domain name separated by dashes helps SEO somewhat, but getting quality inbound links to your site will make much more of an impact on search engine rankings. I also want you know that you have got cool site. If there suggestions are. Pls PM me. Thanks
Generally webmasters perfer some keywords in the domain because it enchances the chances of you ranking in them. Branding like the domain Google, is more convenient and is only the purpose of branding. Going for a branding name that is catchy is better in the long run. Look at the famously known ones like Alexa, Google, Yahoo, and etc that we know today.
