Domain name renewal before time

    Hi,

I registered a .com domain name with GoDaddy 7 months ago, the domain will expire in 5 months, but now I'm thinking about renewing it for one more year, my question is, if I renewed it today will I lose these 5 remaining months? Or will it renew for a year from the date of original registration (5 remaining months + 1 more year)?

Sorry for my bad English, but I hope my question is clear.

    Thanks in advance.

Normally the new time is added onto the end of the time you've already paid for. If there are 5 months left on your last payment, and you renew for one more year, then it will expire 17 months from now.

Therefore you don't waste any money by renewing earl (except for lost interest income).

No, you won't lose the extra 5 months. If will add another year to when the domain was meant to expire. (5 remaining months + 1 more year)
