Domain name registered in hosts name, not owners

    Hi,
I have a customer who had his host register a domain name for him, several years ago.
I just took over the project, and discovered the domain is registered in his hosts name.
The actual site owner's name is no where to be found in the Registration, contact, or tech info.

Can he force the registrant to transfer the domain into his name?

I don't feel to good with his domains in someone elses name, he could risk loosing it.

    Is this common?
Should he make a stink, or am I concerned for nothing?
    Opinions?

    Thanks
    Smokey

Usually the host will (should) not care. If the company is small enough they can not afford getting a rep for jerking their clients around.

Anything's worth a try, fair or foul means. It just depends on how far you can
    go to achieve your goal.

Try "pleasant" means first. If that doesn't work, seek legal advice.

    And yes it's common...sadly.

I will definitely be nice, I just wasn't sure whether this was common or a real sneaky move on their part.
