Domain Name question

    I am looking at domain names as a friend asked me for some information.

    I am looking at godaddy.

    The question I want to ask is

    1) What is your experience with GoDaddy for domain registration only?

    2) How much does the privacy details cost? I know it gives contact information to ICANN but how much does this feature cost?

    3) What are the alternatives besides GoDaddy?

    4) What other things should one consider when buying a domain name?

    Usually i avoid godaddy. No specific reason, i just get better support from smaller registrars. I prefer namecheap (free whois protection) and domainsite but this is just my opinion

    Godaddy is an amazing company for domain registration and the largest one I believe. Privacy registration is 4.99 I think, but they have specials all the time. Take a look at namecheap as an alternative. Make sure you spell it correctly and get other extensions if it is to be a large site. Also look around for coupons. Good luck.
