Domain name plural, singular - Does it matter for google? I'm quite sure it matters for msn/live and yahoo. How about for google? Does it matter? etc; 1) lasiksurgery.com (more searches) is taken, so i use lasiksurgeries.com or 2) catguide.com (more searches) is taken, so i use catsguide.com Does it matter in both 1 & 2? Or doesn't matter for both cases. Would love to hear what you have to say!
It wouldn't matter much for the 2nd case, but the 1st case could cause some problems. In the first case 'surgery' is not actually in the domain name. 'lasik surgery' likely gets much more searches than 'lasik surgeries'. In the second case, both cat & cats is in the domain name. The search engines are likely smart enough to know that surgeries is almost the same keyword as surgery, but you may not get the same boost for the word surgery. I would just use which ever version gets the most searches. If that version is not available, I don't see any problem using a plural version if it doesn't change the actual keyword.
I would recommend that you use some keyword tools to determine which keyword is suitable for your domain. The exact domain for keywords is usually gets more advantage to rank high for the keyword itself.
You need to think about the context that people use to search, and get exactly that domain. Yes, ranking for plural will be different for example my site is NicheForum.com and for "Niche Forum" it ranks #2 and for "Niche Forums" it ranks #7.
Dosewnt matter if only add and S at the end of the word, like cat and catS, but if the word changes when used in plural, it counts, not much, but something.
I think this kind of question goes along the same lines as does it matter to have a number in your domain? so instead of hardwareFORsale.com you have hardware4sale.com It really depends on the niche and how crowded the various keywords are. Have a look around and see what the competitors are using as keywords and if plurarl or not will effect it.
Correct! I would go for visitors appeal, and for certain phrases people will remember the plural, for some the singular. E.g. one would think "books for sale" but "house for rent".
It doesn't matter that much specially with Google, Its all about your website backlinks and anchor text dude
