Not many people like to rent a domain name. But if you would like to lease your domain name, you may check this website - leasethis.com .
Yes ass you will put a lot of efforts into that and then you will lose that domain name. Better develop own domain names
I've thought about this since I first started domaining. It is possible if you have high quality domains and a good business plan and contracts. I had a good site set up for this a while back but I came to a road block then got sidetracked.
Lots of people rent domain names, but they have to be good domains and worth a lot of money usually. For instance if you owned cars.com you might consider it to be worth a million dollars or more, and perhaps expect its worth to increase so you don't want to sell it yet... so, rather than just leave it sitting there earning a next to nothing as a parked domain, you rent it to some big car dealer company for so much a month - quite a lot in this case. On the lower end of the scale some people own domains like sandiegolawyer.com (for instance) and put a website on there and get it ranked for first page results when you search 'san diego lawyer', then rent it to a San Diego law firm who have a crappy domain based on their pre-web era company name like agplaw.com (for example), who can filter more clients towards their company via your better keyworded domain and website. Both of the above are very common, but the first one is very big business - not really the sort of thing a lot of us DP dweebs get invloved in.
Yes i did rent out some of my premium domain to major company. Some of them tied contract with me as long as 10 years and involve around $10k+ for the deal.
