    Hi guys,

I wonder something, I hope you can answer my question.

If I have a domain name of international company with extension of any country -I am from Turkey but the extension part is not TR-, can they take it from me without any payment? Does this situation cause a problem like law court etc. or will they just have to buy domain name from me?

I will just have the name, I will not use domain name for website to do business for their rivals or myself.

This written bellow is valid for major TLDs (com, biz, net, org, info). You are Respondent, the big company is Complainant.
If they have own trademark registered worldwide you would very probably loose the domain should they go to court even in Turkey.

I owned once a domain of a major brand in my country and was approached by legal representant of that brand to give the domain away. We agreed that they will pay me 500 EUR as compensation for my cost (so I made a decent profit and they had the domain fast and without problems).

Thanks for information. But as you mentioned these are for major TLDs but it is a ccTLD domain name.

For example, .tv and com.tv are two different domains. Of course I can't take "com.tv" because of laws but ".tv" is available for everyone all over the world and I will take that one.

Can they still have the right of taking it from me because of their trademark although I don't use in bad faith? I accept that bad faith may cause a right for taking the domain name.

I am really not sure what would be the outcome.
I think it would depend how would you use that domain. Should you use it for something different, not competing with the trademark products or services you may be ok.
