Hello, Well i just wanted to share how important domain name is for SEO. I bought a new domain name approximately 24 hours ago. The domain is http://cheapestvoipcalls.net. I am targeting the words Cheapest VOIP Calls. In less than 10 hours I got my site indexed, and I am on the first page for Cheapest VOIP Calls with no effort at all. All i did was BM my blog and a few posts and a couple articles and a couple directories. So this proves that Domain names are very very very important and can get you on the first page without a care for pagerank and backlinks. if you want to see it on the 1st page, check here: http://www.google.com/search?q=chea...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a it does jump around a bit but its there in the top 10. Thanks
Domain name does play a roll, especially for visitor expectation. Does that search term actually generate traffic. I can't expect more than a hundred people a month search for it.
You are not the first, neither the last to find out this, your domain name is exactly matched to the search term, so it does help. Good work, keep building content and backlinks, and you will win the game.
Yes i know im not the first, i just wanted to show new people that the domain name without a single relevant backlink is very important. Thanks
Yeah, Its a basic factor of seo, because straight keyword rich domain match the search terms and get ranking pretty fast. So its not a new thing, but surely helpful to have, always.
I checked your URL and I found it on the first page. For me I guess the content and your domain name which is too generic and known helped you to get on the 1st page. Domain name that is closely related to the niche plus qulaity content helped you get to the first page.
Domain name plays the largest factor of ANY factors, and if anyone tells you otherwise they are wrong. I have proven this myself with hundreds of mini sites earning $$$$$ monthly. "BUT WHAT ABOUT BACKLINKS?!!" They are OK, but not as important as domain. "BUT WHAT ABOUT CONTENT??" Is it important, but not as much as the domain. "BUT WHAT ABOUT XXXXXX" XXXXXX is important, but not as much as the domain.
That's true.. Domain names do play a major role in SERP. But, anyone with a slightly non-keyword domain can achieve that with backlinks.
yeah domain name plays an important part in seo and if we can include our main keyword in domain name, that's great
Hopefully i get the same experience, just bought a new one today, waiting for it to get indexed is .org harder to rank than .net?
I'm willing to bet this will be short lived. Not uncommon for "fresh" or "newly discovered" sites to be listed on the first page. As time goes on you'll watch the slide as you have little else to support any rankings. Enjoy the rankings while they last.
75% i would say comes down to the domain name, depending on what traffic you are after, many people have "General Blogs" (BOBSBLOG.com) no one in their right mind is going to google "BOBSBLOG" however depending on the quality of the content then search engines may rank his site highly, the domain name is not the be all and end all of a website but when searching for targeted traffic it is often relevent to have a domain with the main keyword within the domain name. we could argue this all day long, i have several sites both domain targeted and general sites and they all do quite well, but overall my keyworded domains make more money.
