Does domain name length have a difference for SEO? For example www.XXXXXXXXXXXX.com vs www.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.com if so how bad of a difference?
my focus will be Search Engine hits, I doubt anyone will return anyways. Also does have a - in the domain make a difference? So www.xxxxxxx.com vs www.xxxxx-xxxx.com ?
Your domain name must be easy to remember, length doesn't matter. For example forums.digitalpoint.com can be easily remember by all. If your domain is new than it will take some time to get popular but if you are selecting meaningful domain name which represents your products and services than your targeted audience can easily remember your site. But my opinion is be very choosy and careful while selecting domain, it is very important factor in SEO world.
Where is the rule from? And cnv did you even read my question? I'm not looking for people to remember domain I want to just get SE hits so I want to select my domain based on that. I just need to know if the domain will be effected if there is a "-" in it or how long it is.
Pick a domain name that has your keywords in it. Don't worry about the length...but I'd avoid the dashes. Google cares more about the anchor text of the links back to your site than the domain name. However, when people link to you they often use your domain name so if your domain is www.aabbcc.com you'll get anchor text like this "aa bb cc". Which is what you want if your domain name has keywords in it.
