Domain name length vs keywords length

Just wondering if having 1 or 2 letters extra in front of my keywords in the domain name could be damaging. I'll launch a new site soon and have registered esciencenews.com - could the 'e' be bad for SEO (aside from looking bad and sounding bad, but that's another story - everything is registered in this field by domain parkers)?

I also have latestscience.net - which one should I use (if either?)

    Thanks for the tips

Which keywords are you specifically going after?

Google will still pick out "Science News" from esciencenews.com but it's certainly not preferable. One great reason for keyword usage in the domain is when you're submitting to directories; many directories insist on using your business/site name as the Title (anchor text for the link) and will not include any additional keywords. Depending on how you brand your site, you may or may not be able to take advantage with this domain.

Im a directory owner and to be honest i think its unfair for directory owners to expect someone to only use their domain, usually they can only submit the homepage (unless featured listing) so i think its an uneccessay restraint to stop a submitter using keywords as after all, the reason a submitter uses a directory is for seo reasons, and tons of backlinks from directories with their domain name only isn't as helpful as if they allowed keywords.

    Hi FiReaNG3L,

No this won't matter, we have had many domains like this, bought and sold didn't matter in the slightest.
