Do you pro's feel there is any penalty or anything to be gained by forwarding keyword domains to your actual domain you want the traffic to? Do you feel google or other engines will penalize you or see that they are forwarded to your actual domain and either simply not count them, or even penalize your final destination domain? Any feedback would be really appreciated
Google will not penalize you for forwarding domain names to your actual site.. They do this themselves... www.gooogle.com www.goolge.com and many many more... Don't worry
i read the google will penalize if you use domain forwarding option... rather use permanent redirect to your main site
Actually, that IS debatable. I'm referring to that last "Matt Cutts" incident of course. According to him, webmaster should not own several domains, and should concentrate all efforts in developing singular domains. You may take your own conclusions from this piece of information.
You won't get penalized for forwarding domains to your main site. A 301 redirect is the ideal way to do it. Domain forwarding will work if done correctly, but can cause duplicate content problems if done incorrectly. Many sites forward misspellings and such to their primary domain. I take that to mean you should not have multiple sites focusing on the same theme trying to control the SERPs, not owning multiple domains. I know people with tens of thousands of domains that don't get penalized for it.
I personally know people with that many, it's not that uncommon. I never said they were getting an extra boost in rankings. If people are linking to secondary domains that forward to a primary domain, that link popularity will pass to the new domain. Type in traffic will be pushed on to the correct domain as well. These are the benefits of redirecting secondary domains. Simply having a thousand domains that forward to a single domain won't particularly do anything, and it doesn't make much sense anyway. Forwarding 20 domains that have correlating URL's and/or themes makes sense and won't be penalized.
I am referring to the ownership of the domains, not what you do with them. Apparently, Google being a registrar, can analyse the domains registration information (even the private registrations) and take conclusions (assumptions ) from that information.
Google can't see through private registrations. They can build profiles in other ways, but not with anything we can't see. This was verified from PubCon this year. see also: http://www.cshel.com/domains/2006/11/google-cannot-see-past-private-registrations/
