this is only one example. my target key word is digital camera. for it which is best domain name digitalcamera.com or digital-camera.com please give me your feedback. Thanks,
Well, i had almost the same problem. To solve the situation a made a test. I made a searching query in the google for the keyphrase "seo book" The first result was seobook.com. The word "seobook" was displayed in bold style. So you don't have to use hypens in order to make google robot recognise the keyword in your domain.
im a stubborn kind of guy: bought 2 domains ex. falubas.com and fabu-las.com and made a test with them to see if the - one could get more rankings than the other: result? the - one is alive and kicking, and the regular one is almost dead... lol
don't believe the - is better or worse, but if there's a solid proof of something related im interested to know! for me works fine, but to some brandable site maybe is better without the - ... you be the judge.
This is what I would do in general, obviously it might have to be rethought in some cases. Buy both, use the one without a dash as the main one, use the other one as the secondary one, on a different class IP server if possible. For branding and offline it could be better to use the hyphenated one, but stick to the other one even offline unless there are problems such as difficulty in reading and remembering both words when attached and not separated by the dash. It's an old problem, and I stick to the same rule, until something new shows up with SEs. for now I strongly advise to go that way. Again, some cases are different, keep this in mind if we don't get to know the real domains and keywords you are thinking of. Good luck!
Work on "DigitalCamera" (always make first letters big) and redirect Digital-Camera to DigitalCamera It's always nice to be able to register possible names for your domain and different TLD too
Samirindia, you're welcome! But I wonder, and we probably all do, what you decided to do... Thank you!
Personally, I think it's the right way to go. There's a little more to do for a nice job, you can get extra tips in the posts above, such as developing at least a minisite for the hyphenated version (on a different c-class Ip and registered under a different name), using big letters so it's easier to read where you can, etc.
