What tools do you use to to search for your domain names? Do you use name generators? Do you check pagerank/backlinks before buying?
I don't understand what you're exactly asking. Are you asking for new domain name search (for registration)? If yes, normally every domain name registrar having the feature which allow us to search for the domain names through different TLD's. And while coming to the page rank think, till now i haven't purchased old domain names (which were previously deleted/expired). But, i will suggest domaintools service to check the pagerank / backlinks of the deleted or expired domain names.
Hi Jose, I was asking if you use any tools to help come up with a domain name, e.g. - do you use any tools to generate permutations of domains that contain a particular keyword - do you use any website which helps to narrow down when going through a list of dropped domains - or do you use any tools to check pageranks or backlinks of the domain before buying
If the domain name has been dropped I personally don't care wether it has any PR or backlinks. I use the thesarus a lot to come up with rhyming words and also synonyms for my keyword I want in the domain name.
Instead of checking pagerank i would say i would check weather the website or the content is not spammy or being penalized by search results.
I normally base the domain name on the primary the keyword of the site. I just do normal keyword search with the google adwords/keywords tool. They say it's okay to not to have more then three hypenate if you are using a long tail keyword i.e. best-mango-diet.com I prefer not to use any hypen and stick to .com. Most of the time the keyword is already purchased already so this is when you need to be creative. I heard adding a X or XX will not detract...I prefer to use an additional 4 - 5 letter word. ie mangodietsite.com mangodietnews.com hope this helps.
I use two applications that return different information on the chosen domains if already registered or previously registered but currently available, as this software allow running custom bulk search. I'm not at home right now to give you the name of those programs, but will get back to post them if you think they can be useful.
Generic Domain Finder is a good one for finding unregistered keyword domains. Type in the keywords you're looking for domains related to, and you get back a bunch of keyword combinations related to it. http://www.genericdomainfinder.com/ Also, if you're interested in dropped domains, we have an ongoing list of several hundred thousand names that have dropped this year: http://genericdomainfinder.com/droppeddomains You can filter them by number of keywords, domain age prior to drop, etc, and also search on keywords. The best domains get caught by drop catchers, right at the time of expiration, but you can still find above average quality domains from this listing - compared to trying to trying to hand register domains, which is more like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
If you are interested in expired domain name search tool, check out http://cachelogic.net/demo1/ It is completely free.
