Nobody can force you to give up your domain name. 2 yrs 3 months is a long period, you're the owner. If your domain name doesn't contain any trademark name of a reputed multinational company, then just go and relax. Nobody can even ask for any confirmation from you about your domain. You are NOT liable to answer unless it is a registered trademarked domain name of international reputation. There can be any company by that same name anywhere in the world, but that doesn't mean they can take that name away from you!
First, look at the date of original thread - it was far too old to be responding to. Second, the letter was a scam. Third, stop posting about trademark issues. Everything you have posted is wrong and giving bad advice is a good way to get negative rep.
Pls don't bother yourself for my rep. I'm just new here and not for rep. I came to see this forum. And if members are here to direct my which thread to respond to, and what not to write, then it's a shame in the name of freedom of expression. If you're a moderator or administrator of this forum, pls clear it here now. I can see you are a much senior member here, I do respect that, but I do not respect someone who directs me at his will unless he's a mod or admin of forum. So please, clear it here now, why should I take your advice or order, by whichever thought you posted this. If you want to guide me, be polite and be friendly, I am open to all friendly suggestions, I already said I'm new here. And, is this how the seniors behave here?
You can give opinions on the forum, but this thread is for legal issues where people want legal advice from people who know what they are talking about, not the legal guesses thread from people who have no experience in intellectual property rights law and guess at what they feel the law should be. Trademark infringement is a serious matter, and can easily cost a guilty party hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees and damages. I don't care how long you have owned a domain, it can be taken if it is infringing upon a trademark. It happens all the time with WIPO actions and lawsuits. You do not own a domain, you are leasing it and it is YOUR responsibility to check for prior usage BEFORE you register it. ICANN is a US company that follows US law. You do not have to register a trademark. It does not have to be an "International Mark". It does not have to be a "famous mark". There is also something called the Madrid Protocol where other countries have agreed to recognize marks registered in another country.
