yeha im thinking about changing my olddomain.com to a newdomain.com for the simple fact i created my site and did not think the popularity will grow so much so quick and realized that the domain i have currently is not the best to go with and im wondering how can i do this without loosing my visitors, my page rank, alexa rating, and everything else... or i cant just simply do the switch and rebuild.

please let me know everything i must do. as i really want to do the switch but then my site has barley started taking off jump like 100,000 in 15 days on alexa and im worried if i do that i might not be growing as fast as i can right now...

If you do a server side 301 redirect, redirecting the old pages to the corresponding new page (i.e don't just redirect everything to the homepage) - the disruption will be minimal - all your old PR and links will be attributed to the new site, and, of course, all your old visitors will be able to find their way back to it.

Before making any decision first be sure if the growth in traffic is continuous or not. e.g. jumping from Alexa 20,00,000 to 19,00,000 is quite easier than from 2,00,000 to 1,00,000.

Unless you are prepared for a serious amount of pain, I would not suggest this.

It will take a minimum of 3 months (probably closer to 6 months) for Google to sort out the change. During that time you will quickly lose virtually all of your rankings and then very slowly start to regain them.

I say this based on experience - the change of domain on a medium sized site that was very carefully planned and implemented including many page->page 301's, etc.

There certainly are cases where this kind of change is justified, but do it with your eyes open and full awareness of the consequences.
