Hello, Did anyone have a success with Godaddy backorder service? There is an expiring domain name that I want to buy, it is registered with network solutions, and have a PR4. Should I bid 60$ on snap names or you think Godaddy can get it? it is a country related, so I dont think lot of people want it. stick to godaddy cheap backorder service or place the bid on snapnames? Thank you.
Its a gamble. If no one grabs it then you can even get it for reg fee when it is released as an available domain name. To be secure you can bid or place a backorder. In backorder no one will know except you. But if you bid then some attention might be given on that domain name by other bidders too. If someone else also likes it and starts bidding then its done
If the registrar for the domain name is Network Solutions, then it will only be available through a pre-release auction on SnapNames. If nobody buys it there, then it will drop and be available for registration by any registrar. If you really want the domain name, godaddy will help very little in securing one registered with Netsol.
My suggstion: don't backorder it yet. Wait till it comes on snap names auction. Every domain expired with network solutions goes there. Once it goes on auction on snap names wait until last minutes to bid. Don't bid immidiately, it will attract lots of good domain hungry predators (it will get emailed as an attractive domain to snap names members). I did the same with one of my domains. I knew it was going to come to Snap names, but didn't backorder it. I waited until the auction came and the bid price dropped there to $39 (instead of standard $60 when preordering). I bid in the last hour, was the only bidder and got it for $39.
