domain name as anchor text?

I've been approving ads with "domainname.com" as the anchor text as long as they have a good description.

I've been disapproving ads that have "http://www.domainname.com"

I guess technically you could be targeting "domainname.com" but I suspect that the webmasters don't know what they are doing.

    What's your opinion(s)?

I guess subdomain.domain.tld could be allowed since one might want to use that for branding. And surprisingly, a lot of people type the domain in to google rather than the address bar so even for ranking it might help to choose it as anchor text.

I would have dropped the http:// as well.

But hey, I'm not even a reviewer...

I'll typically approve them. Not our job to write "better" ads for users.
