Hi all, I'm about to buy a new video site (to replace my old crappy site) and was wondering whether I should put it at my pr 4 domain name - http://thedailysearch.com - or accept a new free domain name from the seller of the new site with the word "video" in the domain name? How important is "video" in a domain name for a video site anyway? And is it better to put the site at my pr 4 ranked address even though "video" is not in the name? Thank you.
keywords in domain names are not that important. In my oppinion you should choose a domain name which is easy, short and might be brandable.
If the case is google, your pr4 website probably got backlinks with different anchor texts so that PR won't give you much good, and domain having a "video" within will be a plus since we think that's a keyword ppl use in queries. good luck.
You can use your old domain name and leverage on the traffic and ranking. Keywords in domain names help but I have experienced that Google weighs in page content and links more.
Keyword in domain is important for SEO and also for branding purpose. Most probably your backlinks to PR4 sites are coming from irrelevant sites and not from video sites.
What about choosing domains that are keyword-rich? This could help you in targeting your preferred keywords for your website.
perhaps i could try it at my old domain name first and see what happens. then i could test a new domain name.
I would accept the new domain with the keyword "video" it is quite important, and already in time your new domain would also be PR4.
