    Hi,

Today I received an e-mail in my Junkbox about my domainname (modbase dot be). I don't know if this e-mail is true or what, please help me. I don't know what to do!

    This was the email.
Sent from networksolutions.com Tech Support (tech@networksolutions.com)

    Thanks for helping!

Looks like someone is snitching on you for not using a correct mailing address, name or phone number...you better fix that right away. If this were on Godaddy, they probably would have taken more extreme measures.

The most weird part is: I don't have a domainname with that company :s
I went there and I got error messages that my domainname is not in their database. This looks like scam to me.

    EDIT:

My guess was right, it IS scam. At the official website I've read this message:

Firefox already has blocked the website.

    Thread can be closed ;)

That's a pretty good scam email - no misspellings or poor grammar!

    Well,

If the URL you posted is exactly as it is in the e-mail and if you click on it directs you to exact same URL then I do not see "scam" element here. It might be legit.

But if the URL inside the e-mail leads to another domain then it's definitely scam. You do not have to click on that link inside your e-mail. Just move cursor to link and see in the status bar what URL it shows there.

    And one more thing.

Did you get this e-mail to your e-mail which is registered with networdslutions.com or it was some other e-mail not related to your domain account?

That's exactly what I did and why I found out it was scam. At first sight it was absolutely a real e-mail.

It's indeed a phishing scam. Confirmed it with my registrar contacts.

There's another one from eNom. Whoever pulled these off are arguably a wee
bit more clever than one might normally expect.

Just take note of the links within those emails, but don't click them. Be sure
    to read them carefully, too.

I had one of these from Godaddy but it was real - they told me to update the contact info AND fined me about $15 :(

At first sight I didn't know it was scam. It was a small shock when I read that e-mail, so I immediately
took action and asked here. I didn't notice the url was different. After reading the message at the official
website and checking the mail again I knew it was fake.

Couldn't you just call your registrar?
