Hi everyone, I've been with Namecheap for a couple of yrs. I have all of my domains with them. I love the gui, it's fast, simple and they're quite reliable. I've read some stories where accounts were hacked from certain registrars including namecheap and people have lost all of their domains. This scares the day lights out of me! So i'm wondering, do I really have anything to worry about having all of my domains with one registrar? Should I scatter them around with multiple different registrars for better security? What are your thoughts and methods regarding the topic? Thanks
That would certainly help.... but may be a little overkill. Just find one with a good reputation to begin with and you should be fine.
Anything with a username/password login can potentially be hacked. Just make sure that you have a strong username/password combination on both your registrar account and your contact email account (ie gmail). Moniker.com has good added security. If you forget your password they won't just send a reset-password-link to your email account. You need to enter the answer to your secret question - and if you can't then you have to phone them.
