Domain LookUp Thieves

Last year i bookmarked few domain lookup sites and was searching for good domain names to register.

I found a good domain name (offloads.com) and just few times/day i checked whether it is still available or not. In couple of days, it was registered by someone.

Anyone faced such missing? Any list of such lookup sites to be avoided?

I've learned my lesson. Now, i type in url, and if there is a blankpage, i just test it and buy it. Simple.

Some unhosted domains will also give "page cannot be displayed" page. But, you cannot register them, so there will be no duplication.

don't do queries thru hosting companies. they're known to steal stuff they think is valuable. back in 1999 i had catherinezetajones.com snatched by someone at the hosting company as i was purchasing the domain and hosting package for it. think twice about doing queries on non-encrypted http sites. i would recommend only using https://www.godaddy.com which is SSL and encrypted. sure, godaddy can probably also steal it too but so far they've never done that to me. also, do a search for the alternate extension like mydomain.INFO and browse the other suggested TLD's to see if the .COM is available so it won't seem as if that's what you really wanted.
