I was wondering what would happen in the following situation:

John has 1000 domains with his registrar (Moniker).

John gets an email from the lawyers at widgets.com because John has a typo of one of their domains.

John knows that he has a typo of a trademark and fake whois info so he decides to ignore all emails. He is not too concerned about loosing a domain here and there.

In his situation realistically what do you think will happen?

if its a typo of a trademarked name then there is nothing the owner of the trademarked name can do because it is not his, its spelled differently..

thats what i think but im no sure, maybe some legal experts can shed some light.. i also had a few typos..

As lawyers would say, it depends. Some would ignore it, others can force the
    issue.

It mainly depends on who one's dealing with, especially if they're subjectively
unreasonable yet might have the law and the bucks on their side. If you deal
with the likes of Microsoft and Verizon, for example, don't expect mercy.

Fake WHOIS info? Why. This is OBVIOUSLY done by ONLY someone who knows he/she is guilty. Would never be done by someone without the obvious intent to defraud/deceive. What a jerk that person is. There are enough honest transactions/business interested in life that could be invested in. When you are OBVIOUSLY trying to take advantage of somebody else's legal rights for the purpose of profit, you deserve to be sued. Put yourself on the receiving end of things. How would you feel if you were the rightful owner of a term/phrase & someone blatantly disregards & then tries to take advantage of all of your work & you then HIDE like a little girl & expect to profit from THEIR WORK?????? Shame on you!!!!!!! Find another hustle! There's a crap shoot for ya in five minutes on the streets of the Bronx. Go to Las Vegas & gamble. But don't intentionally deprive anyone of their legal rights & then run behind the bushes & expect not to get called on it. I hope whoever does this is caused much stress. INTENT. They've made it obvious what their intentions were. Let them deal with the consequences, which I hope are large.
