Hello, I'm confused with this weird problem and seems like there's no other way to solve. I moved my hosting to a new company and they assign me new nameservers to update. I have done this quite long time ago and I'm sure what I have done is correct. Whois to my domain is also showing that the new nameservers have been assigned successfully.... but once in a while when I type my domain in browser what I see is the old index.htm file hosted at old server! When this happens, I also couldn't login to my FTP server. I use an FTP client to connect but then the domain resolves to old ip address. This will be back to normal after couples of hours and I can access the site as well. So how to resolve this?
Get in contact with your old host and ask them to remove your account off their database completely. I've never heard of such a situation, but I'm assuming that most likely this issue is coming from your old host. Do contact them and if you can, explain a brief detail of what you suspect is happening.
Resolved or not ? Most probably you are using DNS server at your home which is not getting updated.. and yes ask Yousif said, ask old host remove your account completely from their servers.
reconfigure your computer with opendns, if you have updated dns correctly, you will get into the new server without trouble
I'm using opendns now but nothing good happen. cpanel is accessible and is working perfectly if I open it from xxxxxx.com:2082 But if I go to xxxxxx.com/cpanel it will show 404 not found Old hosting has been contacted, waiting for response.
Can you access this url: http://your-new-ip/cpanel ? If yes, your domain is not fully resolved yet. If not, you might want to check with your new host if they configure different in their apache
Don't forget to flush your system dns cache. You can do it at windows command prompt with following command. ipconfig /flushdns this helps to clear any erroneous entries in your dns cache and makes the system to query for latest name server information for your domain. opendns is a good solution, as they update thier servers with new information frequently than any other ISP server.
Pls point u r Domain to Old NS. Allow 24 hours and Again Point u r Name Server To New Host, Ex: ns1.company.com IP : 1111.45.12 ns2.company.com IP:1254.41.4 Allow aleast 24 to 48 hrs. Check via whois, it not reseolved Contact domain Registrar. i am not expert, but i wish to help u , thats all.
have you placed any ips in host file windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts just check once is there any old entries are there ?
I have exactly the same problem . But I never hosted my domain on my own PC. The domain was working excellent in the beginning but now I have this problem . I deleted my account at my old web host and now I sometimes get a 404 error . I even changed to a even newer web host(free) but now I sometimes get a 404 from the previous host . I haven't solved this problem yet .
See it takes 24-48 hours for a complete resolve.. Also delete the ips of the nameserver from your domain
It had been at least 3 weeks now and I only get the 404 page from my old server now . The strange thing is , that the site works on any proxy server . How is that possible . That can mean two things : the problem is the cache on my machine or my IP address . I deleted the cache from the browser , flushed the dns cache with the ipconfig /flushdns , I even installed another OS and it still didn't work on it either . What should I do ?
well the problem is on your ISP name server tell them to deleting the cache or increasing cache time refresh so the cache for your ISP name server can refreshing more faster
nope , the isp is not my problem . I replaced my computer with my old one , on the same network connection (wired) and it worked . I can't do my work on my old pc (it's a big difference between a Intel pentium 3 / 64 RAM and a AMD 64 X2 4600+ / 2 GB RAM) . So I will format my whole HDD tonight . Hope it will finally work .
