I registered this domain about a year ago www.HelpMeMike.com it is the name of my local business. I later discovered that it had been previously owned by another individual who misused the domain and Google did not like it. It took me about 6 months to get it to finally appear on Google. Now I can not get it to show up for my keywords "help me mike" on the top of the list. It is number 15 as you can see HERE , but it is a link to /clients.html?!?!?! Not the home page???? Can anyone please help me!
Just keep working on getting links to homepage with keywords in text and google should list the sites main page sooner or later. I would make the bold welcome on home page say welcome to Help Me Mike also. Make help me mike bold not welcome.
Try to either put Help Me Mike in bold. Also add your email address so "@helpmemike.com" shows on the home page. The reason I suspect that your site is not being indexed for your homepage for those keywords is that there is very little text content on your homepage. Increase the amount of text on your home page. Try to write about 100 words about what your company does. Include the "Help Me Mike" keywords 3 times, but not more than that. As a rule of thumb Include your keywords 3 times per 100 words written on a page. Keyword density is a major factor when it comes to search engine rankings. Do some research on SEO and incorporate the safe methods into your site. Absolutely under no circumstances should you try anything shady like black hat seo. This will get you banned from google. Safe SEO will work better for you. Also look for secondary keywords like computer repair or something like that, that you could put in italics. I could write a book about what you need to do to your site. Simply put your site is very light on content. You should add an RSS feed to your site so your site is constantly being updated. It could be something as simple as tech news or weather in your city or something like that. Search Engines like dynamic content. The best thing to do is get some ebooks on SEO or books. You could find cheap ebooks on ebay on SEO. That is you quickest option. On another note your graphics are very nice and the site is nice. Just put some SEO into it, and you will move up in the google rankings.
The best method for certian key phrases is to get your inbound links to use the anchor text as that key phrase. Works great!
To me it shows that the site ranks with the contact page. But that is more than normal since your homepage is not even indexed in Google. I am afraid you will have to first get your homepage indexed and than think about ranking in the SERPs with the homepage. You might also work a little on your internal linking as well as point some back links (possibly with different keywords in anchor text) to your homepage. That should help your site get completely indexed, but don't expect to happen in few hours. Hope this helps.
Adding to what was said about the anchor text... do that for all of your graphics. For example put the anchor text the picture of the computer as "help me mike computer image". Also when naming the image file make it "help-me-mike-computer-image.jpg". That will also help your ranking. I think it will also get that graphic listed in the google images search which create some traffic for your site. Adding to the comment about internal linking. The fact that you are using a gui for your internal links may be hurting you. You may want to include the links to your main pages like index.html, page1.html, page2.html, etc. at the bottom of the page where you have contact us. Just do the main links, and don't worry about any sublinks if you have any. Also create a blog for helpmemike.blogspot.com or helpmemikeblog.com that links back to your main website. You could add some tech tips to the blog or something like that. Blogger blogs get indexed very quickly so that could create traffic and increase your ranking with the backlink from the blog.
