The fraud im most aware of is when you get an email asking for you to pay for a domain appraisal.

How can you sell your domain and not get the money? Money first, transfer domain.

    McFox, its not that simple.

If people ask for money first then domain it would simply lead to another form of domain fraud. An escrow system is the best way to go.

Yeah, I know Escrow is the best way to sell but if you're only talking about $20 - $30 it's sometimes not worth the bother. Bottom line is that if someone wants to buy your domain but won't transfer the money, then forget it.

And a buyer could say transfer the domain, then I'll pay or forget it.

If the buyer needs some reassurance the seller can point out how long they have been a PayPal member and the number of verified transactions. If the seller is also an ebay seller with good feedback they can list the domain with a buy it now.

I have been victim to the appraisal scam. The buyer is interested in a top domain you currently own, offers a price that fits the domain and asks for an appraisal before purchasing...However, they want a "certified" appraisal for $150+...which is absurd...

They don't "trust" Godaddy or any other big Domain Registrar because they feel the appraisals are "stealing" your money due to automated appraisals....

I didn't respond and kept my domains...Watch out for it.

I agree with Mcfox, the idea of selling a domain and not getting the money is illogical.

Fair enough. No money, no domain. You wouldn't expect someone on eBay to send you something and wait to get paid, would you?

Here is what happned to me.

Recieved 300 dollars for a domain. It was my first deal.

But I was lucky and don't know why but I was too much busy at that time and forgot to transfer the domain.

I recieved an email from the buyer for the domain name. And with it I also recieved an email from paypal telling me not to ship goods to the buyer as it was paid from some fraud credit card.

And the payment was auto reversed by paypal itself.

Here If I had transfered the domain to the buyer and after that I would have recieved the email. I would have been cooked for 300.

There is nothing we can do against this kind of frauds.

    Hello,

Are you still interested in selling your domain name? I saw it listed for sale.

Did you get offers from other people?

I need to know your desired price. Please don't ask to make an offer. Just email the desired price.

I run a software company. We develop client-server systems and databases in Oracle for a local company. Buying and selling domain names is not my main business. Just another way to invest money and make additional income.

    Best regards,
