Domain Frames Question

    Hi

Hopefully someone can help with this

I have a couple of websites that I have domain names for, when I go to the sites using the domain name and try to view the source code I don't see it. All I see is a few lines of code that has been put in by the company where my domain resides, this encloses my site in a kind of frame. There are ways that I can view my code (view frame source in Opera) (right click page and view source in IE). But as I said, from the view-source menu I just see frame code.

Will this effect search engine listings etc? This applies not only to Google but to other search engines as well.

Or is there anyway to get rid of the silly frame code that they use ?

    TIA

    GG

Is it a free (DOT tk) domain? This should not happen with purchased tlds. Can you post the url's here please? Most search engine bots cannot read the content in frames so they won't know what's being linked to within the frames.

I can view the source on that page. Are you sure that this is the page that has framed content on it?

if u click on view/source (top of browser) u should just see a few lines of code, this is the frame business that Im refereing to. If u just right click anywhere on the page and select view source then u can see the actual code.

    --------------------------------

I did this particular page in frontpage but it doent matter what u use, that frame code gets put in .. it looks like its something do do with the forwarding from the domain name. (From 1and1)

Yes, that is one of the many dirty tricks that makes of 1&1 one of the worst options when purchasing a domain name.

If you are using their nameservers they are simply framing your site, no matter your editor or whatever you do.

I have never used 1&1 but other registrars doing similar thing. They charge a few pennies for the domain name and considerable fees if you want to gain access to nameservers change or remove the frame

I haven't really purchased a domain from 1&1 and I am not sure how much they charge for these services. Every decent registrar allows you to use your own nameservers. You should rather move your domain to a different registrar if they are charging you for these basic services.

    Cheers

Which companies don't use these dirty tricks anyone??

This is really starting to get on my nerves, 1&1 arn't much help at all,, I can't get a straight answer. Either they are trying to evade the question or they're staff don't know what they're talking about.

    Cheers

Transfer your domain to Godaddy or enom. Are you hosted elsewhere i.e. with a different host than 1&1?
