Domain Forward Question?

    Hope this is the right place to ask this :(

    I was hoping anyone would know, does search engines pick up on domain forwards?

    For instance, what I mean is... If I'm marketing an affiliate site, and create a my own domain name for it, then forward it to the affiliate site, did some SEO work to my domain name, would I be able to rank in search engines like google with a doamin name that forwords to another site?

    you must use 301 redirect when forwarding for seo optimization purposes
