    Hello

I am looking to sell a domain name, and was wondering what the best way to do it is. I've had the domain appraised, so know roughly its market value.

    The domain is d8free.com

Is anyone interested in buying it, then please PM me with an offer....and I can pass on details as I will prob do it through a broker! It's a domain that can be used in the massive dating industry, catchy and easy to remember with a lot of potential.

    Cheers

A broker? Sorry to burst your bubble, but I have been involved in the domain business for quite a time and this domain isn't worth more than 50 bucks.
6 characters, no meaning at all, it has a number inserted, no link popularity, no overture, no PR... what value could it have?

    Cheers for the feedback,

The number is part of the selling pun, d8 translates into date, as in dating, hence the 8.

Just out of interest is the talesfromwork.com have any value!!!

Tales from work has a PR6. Yes it definately has value :)

Know that this DP forum has probably people interested in search engine values. Tales from Work has the word Work in a lot of content and anchor links probably. Therefore it is interesting for links, for advertisers, and even for Google Adsense. WORK is a very nice word to optimise Adsense on. Not that I want to buy it, but I know for sure its worth a lot more than 50 dollar. A lot more.

Plus with a domain like that, its easy to ask people their job, and you know they all urr... work? :) So they all are adults, probably at work with an internet connection. Quite a nice market to aim on.

The 8 in d8, is nice and catchy, but on the other hand has no search engine value. The value that most visitors of this forum know the price best of. :)

Unlike you can tell us interesting visitor statistics (and more importantly know any statistics of them like their work (lol?) age, interests, location, etc) it has no value to me either.

Do you mind sharing where you had the domain appraised, and the value they gave you?
    (post here or PM me?)

There's a lot of appraising scams going on out there...

Afternic and SEDO offers pretty good (and reasonable priced) appraisals, but the prices you get there are normally a bit high, and reflects the price you may get if you find the perfect end-user for the domain.

There are a also few "rotten eggs" out there, that gives you insanely high appraisals just to make you happy, and make you return to them to buy more appraisals.
They do also usually contact you by mail, and pretend to be a possible buyer that's not sure about the price, and asks you for an appraisal certificate from a "trusted" appraisal company.....

You can get pretty good appraisals (wholesale prices) on some of the largest domain forums, and you can also list your sites and domains for sale there for free.
I buy and sell most of my domains at different forums, you may need a lot of patience if you only use Afternic, SEDO, Greatdomains etc., and price the domains based on "professional" appraisals....

if you have a domain worth more, you can go to dnforum.com but it will cost a yearly membership fee to be able to post

I don't think that appraisals are really of value, once I appraised a domain and it the value it gave me was $1480, then I sold it for 120 bucks! another time, with a different appraisal web site, for another domain it gave $11 as its value and I sold it for $210!
    Dont trust appraisals.
