I am sure this has been addressed before. If someone can point me to a thread, I would appreciate it.

Dot com is king, no doubt. What about .cc .ws .tv and the rest. Is SEO the great equalizer? In other words, is a .ws or .cc any better than a .net?

    Here's how I rate Tlds:

    1. .coms
    2. others

    :p

A tld doesnt matter to search engines(except if its geographical or a .info(which is almost spam for googlebot) or something).

.coms are only preferrable, because thats what people are used too.

.tv, .ws and the others always seemed really abstract to me. I prefer .com, .net and .org.

No all TLD's are treated the same, in relation to SEO.

OK, then I guess it is the choice of the user. SEO gets you to the top, but the user has to look at the URL and decide whether or not to click on a .ws or whatever extension domain. That makes sense, thanks!
