    Hi

    Yes it does.

.co.uk will be flagged : UK so you should do well on GG.co.uk but it will be harder (ie: definitely not impossible, it just needs an extra effort and time) to get ranked on GG.com

    for .co.biz, I don't know ...

You can always set the geolocalisation in google webmaster tool though

If you SEO and global reach are big deals then, you may want to purchase a .com ... which by default is global

Another point where you will need to focus on is to get some backlinks from different countries, especially from american sites since that will help you to rank better on GG.com

I have an org.uk domain as PR5 for five years now, result number one after querying its keyboard in both google.uk and google.com, not to mention other extensions.

God, the mis-information regarding domain name extensions is rather sickening at times. No domain names have a special value over another, in fact an *.info domain can out rank a *.gov domain if properly optimized and has more quality content and backlinks. So remember, no extensions has a special value over another. Only ccTLDs (country code top level domains) have a slight advantage in regional and geographical search results, but still can be out ranked by a sister or bother extension that is not country coded.

    HI ssandecki,
I agree with, my phrasing was not very good and that lead to misunderstanding ...

When it comes to geolocalisation I usually take 2 things into account :
    - host the website in the target country (definitely a big deal !!)
    - get links from sites hosted in that target country

Then the domain name is more a marketing things than anything else.

For instance I have a .ie site and a .com site both hosted in Ireland.
both sites (so whaterever the extension) are ranking much better when I'm searching on GG.ie than on GG.com

Then I have 2 .com for French sites and they rank perfectly for their keywords in GG.fr, they are hosted in France.

Funny, CNN still out ranks local news networks that are extremely popular in that country and it's based in the US. Whats the explanation for that with your "its a big deal" theory?

.co.uk works for UK, there's no two ways about it although an American site can outrank it, if somebody searches only for pages in the uk, .co.uk is what will appear or .gov.uk , org.uk etc.
    Geo-targeting does matter!
Although with some competitive keywords such as 'news' or 'music' this doesn't apply, but if somebody typed in UK news, BBC news is what comes up, go figure?
