Hi, i have just done a WHOIS search on a domain i was looking at.. and it says that the domain expires on the 25th March (tommorow) so I was wondering how i could go about acquiring this domain?

The site is dead as in it hasn't been changed for a while so i don't think that the person will be renewing the domain.

I haven't bought a domain myself before could someone explain where i go to get this domain and what costs i'm looking at. It's a .com and pretty short!!

Well if you are pretty sure it's going to expire and its short, you may not be the only person after that domain.

So to increase your chances, I'd be backordering it.

If you register with Godaddy, they have a backordering service for $18.99 which
includes the cost of registering it, if you get it.

Others might be able to suggest other backordering services.

After the domain expires - there is a grace period of so many days to allow the
original owner to pay up and register it before it is released back into the Pool
where it will be up for grabs by anyone.

So it may get taken back by the original owner yet.
I'd try to backorder it if you are really keen to get it, IF it becomes available.

    Good luck with it.

    Cheers
    Tim

So if it gets released back into the pool then how would i do it because i don't really want to backorder it? Would it be cheaper then?

Don't bother with GoDaddy unless that is the current registrar.

Go with Snapnames and Pool to be safe.

If you don't want to backorder you always risk someone else picking it up. If it gets released back into the "wild" then you can get it for standard domain prices.

agree with Fka200, go with snapnames or pool. with pool, you might have to go for multiple bid as you might not be the one thats looking for that domain
