domain drops process

    After the expiration date the domain goes in REGISTRAR-HOLD state for 0-45 days. Then the domain goes in REDEMPTION-GRACE-PERIOD for 30 days and after that in PENDING DELETE state for 5 days.

    So my question is: when the domain is removed from the zone file? in which state? (i m talking about com and net tlds)

    I wrote a script which downloads the zone file and compare it with the yesterday file so i can extract the new and deleted domains.
    I need to make a domain drop list but i cant find any good explanation...

    another thing is that the expiration date for the deleted domains is not the same with the deletion date...

    anyone?

    tnx

    expiration date is obviously no the same as deletion (drop) date. But the drop date can be derived by adding (i think) 75 days to expiration date.
    Or when it is already in "pending delete" you can check "last updated" and add 5 days to it to get the drop date.
    hope it helps

    When it's expired, that domain is available for public if you do not renew it.

    @atxsurf
    i know that the expiration date is not the drop date.
    And yes i m going with the same logic, i m adding 75 days to the expiration date.
    The problem is that the whois data sometimes is not correct. for ex. for some domains i m getting 2011-08-08 as expiration date which obviously is not correct, same with the statuses PD, RGP .... probably i will need to find the registry where the domain was registered to get accurate data.
