Let's say a domain is scheduled to be dropped on April 15. How do I know exactly when I can register it, I mean people are in different time zones. It might be April 15 here and still April 14 on the other side of the world. I'm a little confused here.

I agree.. this is confusing. What I would do is look up the DNS for their location and follow their timezone.

It's also confusing for me too! I haven't actually tried to pick up any expired names though, but was looking into it.

.com/net drop at 11am WestCoast time, 2PM EastCoast and it usually lasts an hour or so...but it's longer if there are more names dropping on any given day.

I do know that .in names drop at 1pm PST too :) (not sure about other cctlds)

.Com is EST since the VeriSign COM NET Registry is in Virginia. You can look up
any of those free online time converters to find out the difference.

It's DST right now, though. :D
