Hey Guys, I have been reading about dropped domains with PR for some time and I wanted to test out a few things : Firstly I purchased 11 PR4 Domains at the regular price, some had been in parking with GoDaddy for about 12-14 days. Now my questions are : I added a front page to each with links leading to my PR2,3 and 4 sites. Then I added the 11 links on each of the 11 domains. Will these drop in PR ? How long until I can tell (via google toolbar) ? And do you think that I can sustain the original PR value ? Also worth noting that I created several blogs on the subdomains of each - linked on front page - will this have any effect ? also as I have been pinging to Tecnoratti etc. with each post. Just my little test.
They will likely drop in pagerank. Google monitors when domains change hands and tries to clear the pagerank. There are a few things you can try to do: Go to Archive.org and look at the domain history. Create content that matches what was there before. Avoid AdSense for a while. Link to some of the same sites that were linked to before. Good luck!
Alrighty : I will try to keep this thread updated daily with my progress. My actions so far : Purchased some random PR domains. Installed a quick slap up HTML page for each. As I go along to each domain now : I add a B2Evolution Blog script to a domain extension :mydomain.com/blog I try to find a (individual) neiche for each one. Then find some articles and alter them to keep the content original and add them to my Blogs. Then finally when I am happy that there's enough content I add the RSS feed to FeedBurner.com and then Add the HTML for Feeds onto (original) index page. Here's one I Prepared earlier : http://weberpartnerships.com/ (index at PR4 / Fake ?) http://weberpartnerships.com/blog/index.php
I like the idea of a test but you need to really know what you're testing, not all pr4 domains are the same the one you mentioned weberpartnerships.com isn't a valid pr4 anyway as it's redirected to weberadvertising.com If you've picked-up random expired pr4's and haven't checked, then the chances are most if not all will have invalid (fake) pr.
get some links pointing to those domains with pr that you registered..if you can get some decent pr2+ links pointing to them soon then I don't think they will loose pr on the next update. Google doesn't care if the domains change owner, that's not gonna make them lose pr. the only way they will lose pr is if they lose those links that were pointing to them to give them that PR4 in the first place...hope this makes sense
Hey everyone, Thanks for the new comments, I will answer a few of the new posts : Thanks for testing the PR on weber, Ok so we have a fake PR, I'm not embarrased that I made this mistake, rather it adds to the test..... I am a Noobie with domain dropping and so will many that jump on to the dropped domains for the first time .... this will add extra pressure to gain a PR before the next updaate. OK I have added the sites to the 11 domains purchased - the PR of these 11 may not have any effect - and as a back up I have added them to about 40 -50 of my other PR2 and PR4 Swickis and Blogs. OK now the updates .... So far I have made the Blog network on three of the 11, basicly I will be working on the one Blog (the domain.com/blog for a full day) for a whole day - so in about one more week all the domains should have a blog network set up. This is a lot of time to develop 4 or 5 Blogs on each site ... but I want to make sure I have done the best I can with each domain. When is the next PR update anyone know ?
The real point is that unless you've checked it's quite possible that all of your domains have fake pr, so your test may be interesting but may not say anything about the implications of valid pr. For instance today (10 September) from com, net, org, biz, info together there are abou 42000 dropping, 730 will have a displayed pr of 3 or above, 320 of those are definately re-directed (fake), of the remaining 410, quite a few more may still be fake. There are even 6 fake pr6 domains in the list. (and one that is probably valid) If you put-up your list it would be easy to check.
i agree with codemerc, more than half of expired domains having some pr come out to be with fake pr. before buying an expired domain make sure its pr is valid and at least it has some valuable backlinks, good luck.
Yup very true but I am trying to display the results to anyone else who is inexperienced in this field like myself.....so jumping in blindly, grabbing the URLs with a claimed PR and seeing the outcomes down the track.... My advantage is obviously having a large base of established sites with (valid) PR set up and running before this excercise to assist in bringing these random dropped doamins from the brink. Should I dump the list here ? or should I start one of these sites to be a base for this experiment and comunication aswell.
